New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor reveals positive update on MRI reports, as they come clean. The star is expected to make his return within 3-5 days given how his back soreness responds to treatment.

He left the Mets game against the Phillies with back discomfort and later was unavailable on Monday. According to reports, “there’s no strain, everything looks good.” To fill up his position the Mets have assigned Jose Iglesias, who delivered a game-tying infield single in the team’s 2-1 win over the Nationals on Monday night.

At first, manager Carlos Mendoza listed Luisangel Acuna to play shortstop on Sunday, but later deemed it was better to have another shortstop on hand. Iglesias has been playing in the minor leagues since not making it into the lineup after Spring training.

However, his tenacity paid off when Mendoza credited him for his hard work and he delivered the results in Monday’s game. Jose Iglesias’ addition to the team has been a necessity as the NY Mets look forward to participating in the playoffs.

The only thing that changes is my playing time. I have no room for rest. I’ve got to go up there with everything I’ve got. And that’s what I’m here for. I’m just glad to do that. Like I said, I’m just trying to do my job and contribute to help this team all the way through.

He said he’s grateful to play for such an organization and will do his absolute best to lift the team to playoff position until Francisco Lindor returns to the lineup. Pitcher Sean Manaea praised Iglesias saying he’s brought back “clubhouse vibes” and his “wizardry” with clutch-hitting has been “instrumental in this team.”

Lindor said it’s been “extremely difficult” to come in and out of the game with injuries, especially in September when teams are racing for playoff spots. He further added, “I am going to force their hands” if necessary, but until then Lindor will focus on getting back to his 100%.

Lindor said he opted for oral medicine rather than relying on injection to manage the pain. According to him, the pain will seemingly last this year but he hopes it does not come to the point where he has to be out of the lineup.

Jose Iglesias praised Lindor for being a “huge part of our team” and how his absence has affected the Mets. However, it is reassuring to know that he’ll be back soon, “I miss him,” Iglesias noted.
