Jose Mourinho provides update on Harry Kane’s injury after draw against Everton

Mourinho and Kane

Tottenham Hotspur continued their run of dropping points from winning positions as they drew 2-2 against Everton in the premier League. Mourinho’s side failed to protect their advantage after Harry Kane opened the scoring for Spurs.

However, more than the result what would worry Mourinho and Tottenaham supporters would be the injury suffered by their talisman Harry Kane. Kane limped off the field in the 93rd minute as he felt some discomfort after having already scored two goals in the match.

The English striker moved clear at the top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot award as his brace moved him to 21 for the season, two ahead of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Kane is an integral figure for Mourinho’s side, and needs to play if they have to mount a challenge for the Top-4 positions this season.

With the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City in nine days’ time, it’s a major concern for anyone associated with Spurs. But Mourinho says he has to be ‘optimistic’ over his condition.

“I don’t really know much. I don’t have much to say. I don’t want to be stupidly optimistic. At the moment I don’t know. I believe tomorrow we will have more detail,” Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho said of Kane’s injury.

“For him to come out it is not because it’s nothing, it’s something. The next match is Wednesday [against Southampton], the other is Sunday [in the Carabao Cup final], let’s see and let’s be positive.

“We all felt the same fears of something that stops him playing Wednesday and especially Sunday but we will see.”
