Josh Allen continues to set the bar very high for his peers. Not only does he win games for the Buffalo Bills, but he also does it with unparalleled swagger.

On Sunday (November 30), Allen led the Bills into the lair of the Pittsburgh Steelers to add more misery to their lackluster season. The reigning NFL MVP shook off the initial hiccups, including a fumble and a turnover, to snatch a win.

The Bills took a 17-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter thanks to some quick thinking from Allen. From 3rd & goal, Allen took a direct snap and muscled his way through the Steelers’ defensive line. A generous push from his offensive lineman was enough to grab an 11th rushing score of the year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Allen has surpassed former Panthers quarterback Cam Newtons career NFL rushing touchdown total, now boasting 76 scores on the ground.

That wasn’t the only big moment in the game for Allen. In the third quarter, a touchdown pass to wide receiver Keon Coleman boosted Allen’s career passing touchdown total to 214, placing him fifth all-time among quarterbacks in their first eight NFL seasons. NFL research notes that this milestone pushed him past Hall of Famer Brett Favre, who had 213 touchdown passes.

The Bills cruised to a 26-7 victory, extending their twelve-year winning streak in Pittsburgh. Allen racked up 15 completions from 23 pass attempts for 123 yards, 1 passing touchdown, 6 carries for 38 yards, and one score on the ground.

Allen wasn’t the only one who enjoyed success in running the ball. The tandem of Allen, James Cook, Ty Johnson, and Ray Davis had 240+ rushing yards against the Steelers, marking the most rushing yards at Pittsburgh by an opposing team since 1975 (Buffalo – 310 yards on 9/28/1975).

With the Week 13 victory, the Bills improved to 8-4 and are the seventh seed.

Josh Allen is already a Bills great

The Bills went a long period in the 2000s and 2010s without qualifying for the playoffs. During this time, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots dominated both the AFC East and the conference, regularly playing division championship games and the Super Bowl.

It changed after the Bills drafted Allen in 2018. Since then, the Bills have been a mainstay during January football. In fact, Allen is among the select few quarterbacks who have defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs (Brady, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts are the other three).

Allen may not have reached the lofty heights of Jim Kelly and his four consecutive Super Bowl appearances, but he’s undeniably one of the top five quarterbacks of his generation. Bills fans already know about his nifty footwork, but few would be aware that he has more rushing touchdowns than HOF running back and former league MVP OJ Simpson, 19 more than Simpson.

The Bills host the Cincinnati Bengals next week. With Joe Burrow back as the Bengals quarterback, this particular game should be a great viewing for the neutrals.
