Josh Giddey has All-Star potential, but could have been throttled due to the star laden lineup at OKC.
Josh Giddey pens an emotional message to the Oklahoma City Thunder after he was traded to the Chicago Bulls
Josh Giddey was supposed to be one of the future stars of the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the former 6th overall pick has been traded to the Chicago Bulls. The emergence of other stars meant that the Australian would be relegated to a bench role.
Now in a new city, he gets the chance to become the All-Star that he is projected to be. Before leaving though, he penned an emotional message to his former team. He took to his official Instagram account to thank the team for all that they have done for him. He elaborated on his gratitude by writing.
Okc… thank you for EVERYTHING. To the city for embracing me from Day 1. To Mr Bennett, Sam & Mark for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dream of my being an NBA player, I am forever grateful. My brothers, who I got to share the floor with for 3 years. the best group of guys I could’ve imagined.Josh Giddey wrote
He then went to express his gratefulness towards the city of Oklahoma.
Stuck with me through the very high highs & the very low lows. You guys know the real me. I am forever in debt to Oklahoma and no words will do justice to how much the city & the organization mean to me and my family.Josh Giddey added
Josh Giddey‘s formative years in the NBA were with the Thunder. This is why he was grateful for all that the organization has done for him. The Oklahoma City Thunder stuck with him when he was under investigation for allegedly having a relationship with a minor. Instead of shutting him down, they continued to play him in the starting lineup.
All those games helped him contribute to their ascension to be the best team in the West. But more importantly, he grew as a basketball player good enough to start a new era with the Chicago Bulls.
Josh Giddey could be an All-Star playmaker with the Chicago Bulls
Josh Giddey’s two exceptional skills as a basketball player are playmaking and scoring from anywhere on the court. Ever since Coby White developed into a scoring superstar, the Chicago Bulls needed someone to facilitate the game. Enter the 21-year-old who can run the offense as the situation demands.
This means, it will help White focus more on scoring, whereas Giddey can keep spraying the ball around. It will also help DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic as he goes on finding the perfect open player. The Bulls might not be rebuilding, but Josh Giddey gives them a solid foundation to build on.
The Australian could end up becoming an All-Star for the Chicago Bulls in the future. But as he mentioned in his message, he will remember who helped him become that player.
