Jalen Brunson is on cloud nine at the moment. He has done the unthinkable. At 6’2″, he led the Knicks to their first NBA championship since 1973 and their third championship overall.

After losing to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and Finals in the last two years, many doubted whether the Knicks could win a championship with Brunson as their star player. However, his performances in the playoffs this year suggested otherwise.

One of the critics who doubted the Knicks guard was Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon. Josh Hart addressed her past criticism of Brunson without directly naming Hammon.

I’m not naming names, but I’m still waiting for somebody to say they was wrong about someone who led our team to a championship in 53 years. I’m still waiting for something. So I know they have that media availability so we’ll be waiting for that apology.

While Josh Hart did not give any names, it was understood that his statements were directed at Becky Hammon as the fans in the crowd began to chant “Becky”. After the Knicks fell short in the playoffs over the last two years, Hammon said Jalen Brunson is not a 1A guy because he is too small to lead the Knicks to a championship.

After winning the Eastern Conference Finals, Hammon stood by her opinion by giving the example of Allen Iverson. However, Brunson has more than just proved her wrong. He averaged 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in the five games of the NBA Finals.

Stephen A. Smith apologizes to Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart

The Knicks were unbelievable during the playoffs this year. After going down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, the Knicks went on a 13-match winning streak. They clean-swept the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and ECF, respectively. They beat the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals in five games.

While Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson wait for Becky Hammon’s apology, they did manage to get an apology out of one of the loudest figures in the business in Stephen A. Smith.

I’m a grown-a*s man. I was beyond wrong. I’m apologizing to this brother on national television; I’m apologizing to you; I’m apologizing to the entire Knicks organization. Let me be very, very clear — I have never been more happy to be wrong in my life. I came out of the womb a Knicks fan. I’m 58-years-old. The last time the New York Knicks won a title before last Saturday, I was 4.

Despite Smith being a huge fan of the Knicks himself, he had his doubts over the team heading into the postseason. However, the journalist revealed that the Knicks are not the favorites to lift the championship heading into next season on First Take.

Jalen Brunson is the king of New York

There is no doubt that Jalen Brunson will go down as the greatest Knicks player of all time after what he has achieved. He responded to all his critics in fine fashion after winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP awards. He even got an apology from Shaquille O’Neal during the Finals and SAS after winning the title.

Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins labeled Brunson as the king of New York after delivering them a championship.

This man has become the greatest Knick of all time. He will never spend another dime on another meal, another drink. I don’t know if he’s even gonna have to pay his mortgage in the city of New York. This is Mr. New York. He is the new Derek Jeter of this generation. All time great run.

Brunson has united the city of New York like never before. The championship parade saw an estimated two million people gather on the streets. Hence, it is fitting to call him the king of the city after his achievements.
