Argentine teenage sensation, Juan Manuel Cerundolo lifts the Cordoba Open title and breaks a 17-year old record

Juan Manuel Cerundolo, who made his ATP main draw debut at the Cordoba Open became the first man after 2004 to lift a title on his professional debut. The Argentinian defeated the Spaniard, Albert Ramos Vinolas in a fiercely competed three set match. He claimed the title, winning the match by a scoreline of 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.
The teenage sensation became the youngest ever Argentine to claim an ATP Title since 2004 at the age of just 19. Cerundolo is currently ranked 335th in the world and has beaten some good players all week in Cordoba. After his triumph on Sunday, the teenager will rise to number 181 in the ATP Rankings. His brother, Francisco also qualified for the main draw of the Cordoba Open, and became the first Argentinian siblings to compete at the same ATP tournament since 1981.
Cerundolo reigns supreme on his home turf
Cerundolo dropped an unrelenting bagel on the experienced Spaniard, Ramos Vinolas in the first set. However, the fifth seed came roaring back and took the second set in a convincing fashion, winning the second set by a scoreline of 6-2. The Argentine ended the match in the same fashion as he started it, as he outplayed his opponent in the decider, claiming it 6-2.
The Argentinian won a total of 81 points in the match compared to Vinolas’ 69 points. It was the points won on first serve that eventually made the difference. Vinolas won just 49% of his points on first serve, whereas Cerundolo managed to win 60% of the points. The Argentine made most of the break point opportunities, converting six of the 15 chances. He ended the match in a classic way by scoring a crosscourt forehand winner, and breathing a sigh of relief.
