Justin Gaethje‘s parents were seated behind Tim Welch, Dricus Du Plessis, and Sean O’Malley. They focused intently on the action as the two warriors brawled in the final seconds of the last round. The elder Gaethjes watched in anguish as their son was sent crashing to the canvas. His dreams of retaining the BMF title were shattered in the blink of an eye.

Gaethje’s father had been enthusiastically cheering on his son against Max Holloway just moments earlier. However, he was left with a look of pure disbelief plastered across his face. His mother, unable to bear the sight, had to turn away, burying her head in her hands as the reality of the situation set in.
