The Los Angeles Chargers are 2-2 after two losses in the last two games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers are ranked third in the AFC West behind the Chiefs and Denver Broncos.

The Chargers play the Broncos, who have won their last three games at Denver on Sunday night. Coming off a bye week, the LA team would love to turn things around. They have been struggling with their offense which is a key reason for their recent frustrations.

The Chargers’ defense limited their opponents to 37 points, but the team only scored 20. They were left with no points in the second half, despite gaining 390 yards of offense against the Steelers and the Chiefs.

Justin Herbert, the team’s quarterback, spoke to Kris Rhim on Wednesday about the impending game and their offensive struggles. He said the team needs to keep things going without forcing it, despite the unfavorable results.

You have to be patient and understand that, hey, we’re going to get things right. We haven’t played the way we want to, but there’s never a time to panic. Panicking doesn’t help. We got the right guys out there. It’s a new offense. It’s a tough offense. We’re going to get it picked up and no one is panicking or worried about that. As long as we’re moving forward and getting better, that’s all you can ask

One of the causes of the offensive struggles is injuries haunting the Chargers left and right. Herbert played through a high right ankle sprain in Week 2. Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater suffered injuries in Week 3, while Derwin James Jr. is sitting out after an NFL suspension. The bye week has given the key players to rest and rejuvenate before the next game.

Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, who joined this season, also echoed what Herbert has said. He said he expects to fix the offensive woes of the team ahead of the Broncos game. He also noted that he will aim to get the team better by making them crisper and sharper.

Bo Nix praises Justin Herbert as a role model

Ahead of their matchup, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has showered praise for his opponent Justin Herbert during a media availability on Wednesday. He said that Herbert, Peyton Manning’s top 5 QB, is someone he looked up to and it would be fun to play against him once again.

Herbert and Nix are both Oregon Ducks alumni. Herbert played with the Oregon Ducks from 2016 to 2020, when he took the Ducks to a Rose Bowl win over the Wisconsin Badgers. Bo Nix played for the Oregon Ducks in 2022 and 2023 after transferring from the Auburn Tigers. Herbert’s brother Patrick Herbert and Nix played together.

He’s one of those guys you look up to playing at Oregon and now he’s been in the league for several years. Been watching him doing some great things. It’ll be fun watching him live and fun seeing him again

Although Nix and Herbert never crossed paths at Ducks, they have been on the opposite sides once. The Broncos QB’s first collegiate game was against the Oregon Ducks featuring Herbert. Nix won the game 27-21, handing one of the two losses Oregon suffered that season.
