‘Juventus must have greater ambitions’ – Alessandro Del Piero after Juve’s early exit from Champions League

Alessandro Del Piero believes Juventus are great in Serie A however their sudden loss to Lyon has reflected their troubles in the Champions League.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace led Juve to gain 2-1 win, however after a 2-2 aggregate draw, they slipped in the last-16 match on away goals.
Memphis Depay converted a penalty, a controversial decision which led surprise defeat of the Old Ladies of football.
Alessandro Del Piero on Juventus told Sky Sports Italia:

“At times we have criticised him, but against Lyon he [Ronaldo] gave a lesson, not only for the goal but for how he played the whole game.
“There is a problem for Juventus and that is to face the teams at European level.
“The team is perfect in the Italian league but both the first leg and the return match against Lyon showed some difficulties.”
Back in 1996, Del Piero, who was part of the team that captured the European Cup. Del Piero believes that the Juve should aim their goals higher than just winning domestic title. His comments came after Leonardo Bonucci said that keeping the Scudetto was always the goal this season.
“If the goal is the Scudetto, then the season is fine but Juventus must have greater ambitions.” – Del Piero said.
Italian league champions Juventus have sacked Maurizo Sarri following their UEFA Champions league exit.
The announcement was confirmed by Juventus through their social media handle. The decision came within 24 hours of Juventus Champions League exit.
