New York Knicks fans are some of the most passionate of any sports team that one can find in the United States of America. After Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the others made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, their fans crowded the streets to celebrate the victory over the Boston Celtics.

One of the most commonly used chants they resort to is to troll the defending champions. The animosity between the two fan bases was evident when some of them even brawled with Celtics fans in some of the early games.

But this time, there were no Celtics fans to brawl as the defending champions’ supporters knew the series was well and over after Jayson Tatum left Game 4 in a wheelchair after tearing his Achilles tendon. Therefore, to ensure they kept trolling their opponents, Knicks fans took to the streets and again chanted ‘F**k Boston’.

One of the fans, who goes by the name of Jason Dantona, went viral for chanting that slogan into a camera and then danced away holding an L sign on his forehead. This came to the attention of Karl-Anthony Towns, and he revealed a t-shirt with Dantona’s picture printed on it as he was announced at the New York Mets vs New York Yankees baseball game.

The crowd inside Yankee Stadium rose up into a unanimous cheer. They understood the significance of it even though they were there to catch a game of baseball. More importantly, KAT’s efforts seemed to have united New Yorkers despite the rivalry between the Mets and the Yankees.

Karl-Anthony Towns embracing his New York roots

Karl-Anthony Towns was shocked when the Minnesota Timberwolves traded him away to the New York Knicks. The betrayal by his former team disappointed him, and he could not understand why they would do so.

He had just helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals last season and hoped this season would be better. But then, he also had to accept the fact that the NBA as a business can be brutal. But he did find some solace after defeating the Wolves earlier in the season.

Now, though, his focus is on the New York Knicks and their passionate fans. After winning Game 6, KAT was leaving Madison Square Garden when a host of Knicks fans waited for players to pass by in their cars. Towns slowed down and greeted them, joining in and cheering on as the fans celebrated their victory.

Towns knows the importance of a championship to his hometown team. With both these instances, it is evident he is embracing his New York roots as he looks to fulfil a five-decade-plus dream. It has been a long time since the city celebrated an NBA title.

Karl-Anthony Towns and teammates will have their work cut out against Pacers

The New York Knicks fell back twice in back-to-back games and came back to win. That should give an indication on how driven the team are. His teammates might have the desire to be better than last season, while Karl-Anthony Towns knows everyone expects him to fail.

That collective drive should make it easy for them, but when it comes to the Indiana Pacers, it is not going to be easy. The Knicks lost to the Pacers last season, but their team lacked bench players. This time, they almost have a fully healthy lineup waiting to extract revenge.

But they are also aware of how the Indiana Pacers fought to win, both against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. KAT and his teammates will be wary of allowing the fast-paced Pacers to take an early lead in this series. To their advantage, their passionate fans will be there for Games 1 and 2 to give them a confidence boost.
