Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will surely be ruing their horrific second half in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. The Knicks pulled off a 29-point comeback in the second half, which was the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.
After starting red hot in the first half where they shot a Finals record 14 three-pointers, the Spurs made just three-pointers in the entire second half. In the end, they suffered a shocking 107-106 defeat at the Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Spurs players were guilty of some blunders towards the end of the fourth quarter. But the fingers will be pointed at Wembanyama for his two missed free throws and De’Aaron Fox‘s poor decision making in the last 10 seconds of the match.
After the game, former champion Kendrick Perkins shifted majority of the blame onto Wembanyama.
Not too much (blame on De’Aaron Fox). Everyone is overreacting to that play. Who should get a lot of blame is Wemby because he folded. He was scared in the fourth quarter offensively. Zero post moves. Do something on the low block. Nobody is talking about how he froze up at the free throw line.

Perkins has heaped praised on Victor Wembanyama multiple times during these playoffs. However, this time, he was critical of Wembanyama being passive and afraid when things got tight.

Fox was heavily criticized for taking a layup instead of wasting time and getting fouled in the final 10 seconds of the game. But Perkins believes the blame should be on the Spurs’ main man.
Lack of playoff experience has been a boon for the Spurs throughout the playoffs this year, as they have taken out the likes of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, it appears that their inexperience has been costing them in the NBA Finals.
Jalen Brunson completely exposed and disrespected Victor Wembanyama in Game 4
Victor Wembanyama has never shied away from taking accountability whenever the Spurs have faltered during these playoffs. In his first ever postseason, the French star has broken a few records and was named as the Western Conference Finals MVP.

Wembanyama is undoubtedly the best defender in the league today. However, Kendrick Perkins believes Jalen Brunson exposed the 22-year-old in Game 4.
The Defensive Player of the Year, in this series 1-on-1 has been getting exposed. The Defensive Player of the Year last night in the second half got disrespected. Jalen Brunson in the second half called the Defensive Player of the Year in 21 of the actions and picked on him. He scored on him 3 out of the 5 times that Victor was the primary defender.

Brunson was instrumental in the Knicks’ comeback as he ended his night with a game-high 36 points and seven assists. He took on Wemby in several moments and even scored over the Frenchman multiple times.
Kendrick Perkins has Jalen Brunson as his Finals MVP so far
The Knicks have been unbelievable in the playoffs this year. Various stars have stepped up throughout their Finals run, but Jalen Brunson has been their most consistent performer.
While some believe that Karl-Anthony Towns should be the Finals MVP, some had OG Anunoby as their pick after his Game 4 performance. But Perkins revealed his vote would go for the Knicks guard.
Brunson gets my vote… but it’s close.

Brunson is currently averaging 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, five assists and two steals in the four games of the NBA Finals. The Knicks have lost just one of their last 15 games in these playoffs. They will be looking to seal the series in Game 5 at San Antonio on Saturday night.
