This offseason, the 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett went from being the starting quarterback to backup– which more or less was foreseen. Regardless, it was certainly a downfall but it taught the quarterback something very important.

After finishing last season at 10-7 under Pickett, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed the veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to strategize the team differently. However, Pickett didn’t handle it well and ultimately ended up with the Philadelphia Eagles as a backup to Jalen Hurts.

This move to Philly was certainly a downfall for the two-year starter as there was no chance that he could compete for the starting job there. But instead of agonizing over what the quarterback lost, he decided to view it with a positive outlook. During his recent speech at the Champion Mindset Symposium at Shore Regional High School in New Jersey, the Eagles’ newly signed backup illustrated how the change has been positive for him.

Change is a great thing. I’m going through it right now. I was in Pittsburgh for seven years and now I’m over in Philadelphia... I think a lot of people probably have some negative views on change, but that’s really just your outlook on it. I think if you keep a positive mindset, it’ll all work out for the better.

Pickett is embracing the new chapter of his life with a positive attitude and that definitely speaks for his character. For now, he is focusing on learning the new offense and adjusting himself according to his team’s needs more than anything.

Kenny Pickett rebuilds career with positive attitude shift

Drafted in the first round of 2022, the Steelers had high hopes for Pickett but he suffered a similar fate as the first-round quarterback picks of his batch. After ending things on a bitter note, the quarterback is rebuilding his NFL career in Philadelphia.

While talking about how he has put a positive spin on this major change in his professional life, Pickett also shared how he has been able to do it. He shared that he has changed his attitude of doubting himself saying, “The world has enough doubters.”

Instead of focusing on what the media and fans are talking about him, Pickett has shifted his focus on his coach and family members– who still believe he is capable to compete and play to the standard of his first-round selection.
