The year 2025 was one of the most chaotic in the history of the sport with charter lawsuit and criticism over the playoffs format, alongside many other decisions of the sport getting consistent criticism from the community. This inspired the leadership to make significant changes, starting with the resignation of commissioner Steve Phelps.
Recently talking about the changes coming to the sport on his YouTube channel, ex-racer Kenny Wallace admitted that the sport is in repair mode. The veteran then listed the new commercial, leadership change, and the soon to be introduced upgraded championship format as the positive decisions made with the aim of making the sport better for the fans.
NASCAR is in repair mode. Everything is going in the right direction… You got three things that NASCAR is doing to make you happy…Number one, the new Hell Yeah commercial… Number two, Phelps is gone. Number three, the new championship format. That’s three things… It’s January 9th.
Kenny Wallace said via his YouTube channel.
The Kenny Wallace Media owner asserted that these three major policy decisions are the sign of massive changes coming to the sport and asserted that sport is looking into correcting the mistakes they made. He is excited with the fact that the leadership acknowledged they have messed up and willing to listen to the community before making changes.
We’re 9 days into the new year, and NASCAR’s already announced three things. That’s how big of a change this year is going to be… Do you see what NASCAR is trying to do?… They’re trying to make things right. They messed up. They messed up, and they know that. But I’m excited that they’re trying to make it right,
Kenny Wallace added.
Kenny Wallace exposes NASCAR’s greed
On his YouTube channel on a separate conversation, Kenny Wallace highlighted the greed issue with NASCAR. He pointed out that the ticket pricing is a major issue for the sport as one ticket for the whole weekend isn’t the right choice and there needs to be balance with how much fans needs to pay to watch races.

They got greedy. You had to buy one ticket for everything. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the fans are like, ‘Man, we just want to show up Sunday. They made a lot of money, but they spent too much money. There’s got to be a balance.
Kenny Wallace said.
Furthermore, he admitted that the massive drop in fan turn around humbled NASCAR, and they need to learn from it going into the 2026 season. This start with the PR campaigns the sport set to launch to earn the trust back of the core fans.
They have been humbled mightily, he said, adding, NASCAR has been humbled mightily, and I know for a fact they hear y’all. They are going to go on tour in 2026, and they’re gonna make it right. If NASCAR calls me, I will help them. We’ve got to repair NASCAR.
Kenny Wallace added.
The veteran like majority in the community is ready back NASCAR as they are showing positive signs of making a change. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the team in the coming years.
