Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving era at Brooklyn Nets labelled “disaster” as Uncle Drew traded to Dallas Mavericks
Fans called Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant's duo disastrous following Irving's trade to Dallas Mavericks
Kyrie Irving’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks definitely comes as a shock to most of the NBA. At the start of the season, it appeared that the Nets wouldn’t be able to perform as per fans’ expectations. However, they were on a roll ever since Steve Nash was fired. They definitely looked like a championship-contending team but after Kyrie’s exit, it will now be up to Kevin Durant to lead the team in the playoffs once he returns from injury.
Nobody could have predicted this outcome when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving initially teamed up in 2019. Following the shocking news of Kyrie’s trade to the Mavericks, Irving will no longer play for Brooklyn. He will instead join the Slovenian powerhouse Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. When asked about what the fans felt about the Durant-Irving era in the Nets they termed it as disastrous.
Durant and Irving fans who loved seeing them take the court together will definitely be heartbroken by the news of the Australian point guard leaving his best friend for another side. The Duo had what it takes to convert a team like Brooklyn to a dynasty such as the Golden State Warriors.

Kyrie Irving can now help Dallas Mavericks to reach the playoffs
With Kyrie Irving now playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic, and Co have what it takes to make a good postseason run and perhaps even win a title in the process. With the Western Conference being open as ever, the Mavericks currently stands 6th in the West with a record of 28-26. Just 0.5 games ahead of the Stephen Curry-led Warriors. Irving’s addition will definitely remove the burden from Doncic’s shoulders and will boost the Mavericks further.
But like any other team, the Mavericks too paid a heavy cost for the acquisition of the point guard. They traded 2 of their players along with their 2029 first and second-round picks along with their 2027’s second-round pick. While Irving is a proven world-class player there is no guarantee that the combination with Luka will succeed. It is fair to say the Mavericks have risked a lot for a 2-month test.
In all of this, it is Kevin Durant who has obviously suffered the most. James Harden had left him earlier for the 76ers and now it’s Irving who too followed suit. Only time will tell how he and the Nets fare without Irving.
