Kevin Durant is getting heavily trolled and criticized after the Suns’ embarrassing loss against the Denver Nuggets in the round 2 series opener. The internet is showing no mercy to the seven-footer shooter. The criticism spreads after the Suns’ superstars failed to get the job done against the Nuggets falling to a 125-107 defeat. Durant and the Phoenix Suns were far from impressive in their first face-off against West’s #1 seed. Expectations weren’t around Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, and Aaron Gordon to ball out and destroy the Suns, eventually, that’s how the matchup folded.
The Denver Nuggets hosted the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns at Ball Arena for Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals series. It was supposed to be a closely contested match-up, with the Suns standing as favorites. But the Nuggets had different plans as they started the game being closely contested and soon took complete control over it, dominating the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns to get the dub at 125-107.
The first quarter was super competitive but the Nuggets took control of the game in the second quarter. As they outscored the Suns with a 37-19 run which eventually helped them get the dub as they had a 17-point lead at half-time. The Suns had a great start to the game behind Kevin Durant’s 15-point in the first quarter. But he was limited to only 4 points in the second quarter. Durant dropped 29 points, dished one assist, and grabbed 14 rebounds in the game. He was backed up by Devin Booker’s contribution of 27 points, 8 assists, and four rebounds.
But none of that was enough against the Jamal Murray-led Nuggets. In the series opener, Murray dropped a 34-point banger, alongside nine dimes, and four boards. Even Aaron Gordon balled out getting 23 points and six rebounds. Nikola Jokic backed his team by dropping 24 points, five assists, and 19 rebounds. The dub came after a team effort from the Nuggets. But Jamal Murray’s performance, especially, the 20 points in the second half deserved the most credit for the win. Game 1 was a complete upset for Durant and co. and the internet is letting them know about it.
Fans troll Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns after loss in Semifinals series opener against Denver Nuggets
The internet keeps winning and never disappoints. And, this time with the trolls they are also bringing up facts and stats like Kevin Durant’s 7 turnovers to put the team in the right place. You can find some of the many reactions posted by fans on Twitter here below as they troll the life out of the veteran and other stars donning the Suns’ jersey:
Kevin Durant and Phoenix Suns would now have to put in some serious work and make a promising comeback in Game 2. As many are already claiming them to be swept out by the Nuggets. They’ll have to improve their shooting and adjust some plays while running the offensive end through Durant or Booker. The two powerhouses can really drill some buckets when needed. Also, they’ll look to step up big on the defensive end to stop the duo of Jokic and Murray. Or else this series can, unfortunately, end their postseason. Game 2 is scheduled to take place at Ball Arena on Monday, May 1 at 8:00 PM MDT.
