Scoring pylons has always been a staple at the race track as it allowed the fans to get real time idea on where their favourite drivers are running. It has also helped drivers to identify their position on the track. So it was a big surprise when NASCAR decided to remove the pylons before the race in the last two weeks.
The NASCAR community were shocked when it was first removed at Texas Motor Speedway and the decision received a lot of criticism. Ahead of the Talladega race weekend, the Pylons was removed from the track as well. This has gotten the attention of 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick and he has shared a passionate opinion on the issue.
Harvick pointed out that he doesn’t understand why the pylons were removed and highlighted that NASCAR asking fans to use the app during race to find running position of their favourite driver. He pointed out that it makes no sense ask fans to do that. The ex-SHR driver added that it’s better to put the Pylons back on for the fans.
If you really want to get me fired up, we should talk about this damn pylon. I don’t understand the whole theory of this pylon, ‘Hey, go to the app. Don’t watch the race. Go to the app and see what lap we’re on.’ That makes no sense. How about we just put a pylon up, so everybody can see what position your car is running in on the scoreboard.Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
Kevin Harvick claims 2024 season is about HMS vs JGR
Talking about how the 2024 season has panned so far, Harvick highlighted that the battle now is between Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. They have combined won eight of the ten races so far this season.
Well, I think that the biggest story is Hendrick versus Gibbs. I think that’s really what it comes down to at this point. They’ve had the best cars. I think you could add the Toyotas in, at 23XI, to being, you know, the most competitive cars. I think that the Gibbs cars have still been consistently better than then at 23XI cars, but the Hendrick cars have, week after week, done what they what they need to do to be competitive.Kevin Harvick said.
The 2024 season so far has seen the battle between the Chevy and Toyota giants. Harvick expect the same to continue in this season and probably a driver from the two teams taking the championship, ending the Team Penske Racing’s dominance in the Next-Gen era.
