It’s hard to name the GOAT of any sporting championship in the world, owing to the long history it shares and the fact that there always will be someone at least in couple of decades that is an inter-generational talent. So, picking a Mount Rushmore line-up is a perfect solution to it and recently 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick named his NASCAR line-up.

In the latest episode of his podcast, he was asked to name his top 4 NASCAR racers of all-time to feature in the Mount Rushmore. He chose seven times champions Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson, three racers who are un-droppable. Kevin Harvick then chose four times champion and HGMS Vice Chairman Jeff Gordon, another solid choice considering his 97 race wins as well as significant contributions to the sport.

I think the NASCAR one would be [Richard] Petty, [Dale] Earnhardt, [Jeff] Gordon and [Jimmie] Johnson.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour Podcast.

His co-host Mamba Smith had just one change made to this. He kept the big-3 as dropping any one of them from the list will means losing their credibility among NASCAR fans. His fourth choice, Tony Stewart. The ex-SHR owner, three-time Cup winner, IndyCar champion, countless sprint, dirt race wins and now NHRA driver, he is currently the most versatile racer the sport has scene.

My NASCAR is Petty, [Tony] Stewart, Dale Sr. and Jimmie Johnson.

Mamba Smith said.

Kevin Harvick’s co-host Kaitlyn Vincie makes a special selection

The third co-host of the show, Kaitlyn Vincie, also named her Mount Rushmore. As expected, the Big-3 was there as they should and she put Kevin Harvick as the fourth one. A spring choice, considering he has just one championship and 60 Cup race wins. There are drivers with better resume than the veteran.

Kevin and I have pretty similar ones. I put Earnhardt, Petty, Johnson and I put Kevin on mine, because it’s my Mount Rushmore and he’s on mine.

Kaitlyn Vincie said.

The Fox Sports personal later went onto argue her case for the spurring pick. She asserted that Harvick deserves a spot among the grates, considering his contributions on and off the track over the years, as he has played significant role in career of a lot of people in the sport.

It’s not just the things he did on the track, but what you do for this whole sport. I mean, let’s be honest, you’re doing a lot for a lot of people’s careers and everything else, so I’m putting Kevin on mine.

Kaitlyn Vincie added.

The selection was clearly a product on personal bias and though Kevin Harvick is one of the best racers the sport has ever seen, he isn’t among the top 5 all-time.  On the other hand, Kevin Harvick made perfect choice and something almost everyone in the racing community will agree with.
