The 2024 NASCAR season is heading into the finale at Phoenix, Arizona and it has yet again opened the discussions about changing championship race track. Since it was changed from Homestead Miami few years ago, many in the racing community has been asking for the track to be replaced as the final race product often didn’t match expectations.
2014 Cup series champion Kevin Harvick has a solution to the issues that might not hurt all the fan bases in the respective track. He pointed out that NASCAR should consider cycling the championship race between Phoenix and Homestead. His opinion mostly had to do with the fact that he wants Homestead’s return as the finale.
He further talked about the potential of adding one more track to the cycle, namely the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is known for hosting impressive races. He asserted that Vegas has the right November climate and great atmosphere to be the championship finale race that all the fans will appreciate.
Kevin Harvick insists he doesn’t have anything against Phoenix
While further talking about the point, Harvick asserted that he doesn’t have anything against Phoenix as he believes the track has done a great job as the finale. He then further argued that Homestead always had a special feel and a different vibe that makes a better venue.
The suggestion from Kevin Harvick about the cycling of championship-4 race is something NASCAR can implement as this will give the sport a wider market. It will be interesting to see if the sanctioning body make use the proposal.
