Radio rants and retaliation threats has been at the centre stage of every race week over the last few weeks, with the likes of Joey Logano, Carson Hocevar, Daniel Suarez and Rayn Blaney being in the mix. But none these drivers have delivered on their threats and this has irked the 2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick.
In the latest episode of his Happy Hour podcast, Kevin Harvick asserted that he hates the fact that current group of drivers are not walking the talk in terms of their sh*t talks. He pointed out that the drivers in the garage should back up their threat and hammer the drivers that wronged them immediately in the same race if not the very next race weekend.
Yes, I like that. I don’t know about the fights, but if you’re going to call somebody out on the radio and you’re going to talk a bunch of sh*t, at least go do something, or immediately just hammer them.
Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
The drivers often make wild, and profanity laced statements on team radio, but don’t deliver on the promises they make at the moment. For racers like Ryan Blaney, rants are a way of channeling the frustration and moving on from it. But there are drivers that has delivered on their messages in the past but hesitate to wipe out rivals now.
Just all the shit talking that happens on the radio, and then nothing happening on the racetrack. There’s just no better message that you can send than just wiping somebody out in retaliation.
Kevin Harvick added.
So, why should the driver retaliate in this situation? Well Kevin Harvick got the perfect response for it. He asserted that if the threats are being backed up with action on the track, they rivals will think twice before getting into a similar situation in the future. The drama also will give another story line for the fans to enjoy.
Then they know you’ll do it, right? When they know that you’ll do it, they’re not going to wipe you out. Because they don’t want to deal (with that).
Kevin Harvick asserted.
Kevin Harvick shares experiences of retaliations from his career
The ex-SHR driver isn’t just talking, he is speaking from experience as he has been in the same situations in the past. Harvick revealed that in his early racing years, every once in a while, he found himself in situations where he had to wipe rivals out in order to send a message or avoid more chaos, and everyone was willing do that unlike the current drivers.

That’s one reason why, back when I drove, you just — every once in a while, you just had to wipe somebody out. You had to just send a message. You had a bunch of chaos — do you want to deal with the chaos, and do you want to get wiped out? Fine, let’s do it. But I don’t know that anybody is going to do that.

The comments from the veteran proves the current grid misses an intimidator or enforcer among them, who could get back at their rivals for mistake. At the moment almost every driver is getting away with a slap on their wrist owing to their mistakes. It would be interesting to see if some drivers would take the suggestions from the veteran and get back on the racers that wronged them.
