The Next-Gen cars one main big weakness has been revealed at Michigan and since then it has happened multiple times leaving drivers and teams concerned. At MIS Corey LaJoie’s car flipped in the air, and the same happened twice at Daytona International Speedway featuring Michael McDowell and Josh Berry.

With the bump and runs becoming a major factor in the current era, there no solution to the problem other than updating the rule book if NASCAR wants keep racing interlining. 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick via his podcast addressed this situation and highlighted the need for making less and mean more.

So, if you wanna eliminate stuff like this happening, we gotta make these pushes mean more. And be able to not have to push and shove as much as we do. Because if you can’t push and shove right now, you won’t be able to go anywhere. If they take the pushing and shoving away, nobody will be able to make any ground.
Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour Podcast.

He then urged NASCAR to change the rules for the Superspeedway package if they are failing in making cars faster is multiple lanes, which is an alternative solution. Harvick seems pretty convinced a rule change can make racing better and less dangerous for the drivers.

So, you can’t take that away from them until we make the lanes move faster or spread the cars out a little bit. But one step to that is being aggressive in changing the rules on the superspeedway packages. So, the teams have to chase it all the time.

He then went on to make a case about this change will benefit the teams. Harvick highlighted that the team owners are losing millions because of the crashes and if NASCAR can prevent them from happening without compromising the entertainment, it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved in the game.

Sure, it’s easy and it saves everyone money. But does it really save everyone money when they’re tearing stuff up every single time that they go to a superspeedway? You can count on millions of dollars get torn up every single time. I’d love to see them mix the rules up. So, the teams and the drivers have to continuously chase those superspeedway rules.
Kevin Harvick said.

The ex-SHR driver does have a point as the mix-up of the rules can introduce a new dynamic that can change the racing style. At the same time, it is not as easy as it sounds, considering the different components of the Next-Gen car, but it is still worth a shot.
