The 2026 NASCAR Cup Season won’t feature any international races, after it was the decided that the series will not go back to Mexico City this year. Many expected the sanctioning body to give the date to another track out-side US, but refused to do so.
In the latest episode of SPEED with Harvick and Buxton podcast, Kevin Harvick talked about NASCAR going international. He named Montreal as a potential destination for Cup Series races in the future, as the sports have a big fanbase in Canada and the O’Reilly Series have raced there from 2007 to 2012.
The Cup Series has never been to Montreal. We used to take the O’Reilly Series up to Montreal. I love the fan base, I love the track, and we have so many NASCAR fans in Canada.
Kevin Harvick said on his podcast.
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which also host the Formula One Canadian GP, is one of the biggest motorsports market NASCAR can tap into. Kevin Harvick also has a special connection to the track, as he was the maiden stock car race winner there, after winning the 2007 NOAPS race. The veteran is looking forward to a potential return of the track to the schedule.
For me, Montreal, with our fan base built in up there, Cup car’s never been there and such a great circuit. We’ll see if Montreal is on NASCAR’s radar in the near future.

Kevin Harvick left unimpressed with Hendrick Motorsports despite Martinsville win
In the same podcast, the 2014 Cup champion talked about Chase Elliott’s win last Sunday at Martinsville. It was the first win of the year for Hendrick Motorsports and Chevy, showing signs of them getting out of the messy streak they found themselves in after the car design change.

Kevin Harvick thought doesn’t seem that convinced, as he admitted that this is not the sign that the team is going to win more races on the mile and a half track. They will be better, but it will take them more time to get better.
Now do I think it fixes all the problems? No. Do I think when we get to the mile and a half, they’re going to be better than they were at Vegas? Probably. It’s just taken them longer to figure things out than I think that they anticipated with how good the car was on paper.
Kevin Harvick said.
Further talking about the point, the star driver asserted at the moment HMS’ performance looks only good on paper, as Martinsville is a track they are expected to win considering with 31 overall wins, they have the most expertise to dominate there. They can truly establish their return by performing at tracks they have historically struggled in.
It can always look good on paper, but until you get it to the racetrack you don’t really know. So, I think they still have some work to do, but where it came down to the mechanical piece of the car and the things they do at Martinsville Speedway, they were still there.
Kevin Harvick added.
The comments from the Fox Sports broadcaster are on point, as other than Chase Elliott no other HMS driver showed clear signs of progress. It would be interesting to see how long it will take them to getting back to their standard, consistently fight for race wins.
