The NASCAR Cup Series garage is all set to compete for the One Million this weekend at North Wilkesboro, the All-Star racing weekend. Unlike in the past the excitement about the event seems to more about the track, and not what the race represents among the fans. 2014 Cup winner Kevin Harvick got a solution for it.
In the latest episode of the Fox Sports Happy Hour Podcast, Kevin Harvick discussed the issues with the All-Star race. He admitted that it’s impossible to find a format that everyone in NASCAR going to like, hence the best situation is to end it and make it a point race. The veteran seems to believe making it a point race kind of help to honor the drivers and teams.
I say we nix the All-Star Race…I just think that with all the effort and things that go into it. We can’t find a format that everybody likes; I think we should honor our guys. I think we have to figure out how to make the Clash be the Clash and the All-Star Race and make it all work together. I think that North Wilkesboro deserves to be a points race.
Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
The track is capable of hosting a point paying race, with the facilities it has and the race product it can offer for the 400 laps. Harvick declared that the All-Star race has run its course, and the time has come for the big change. But that change shouldn’t affect North Wilkesboro as the NASCAR track deserves to be part of the schedule.
I think it would be a fantastic points event, 400 laps, all the cars on the race track, full weekend. I don’t think North Wilkesboro should go anywhere, but I just think the All-Star Race has run its course, personally.
Kevin Harvick added.
Kevin Harvick advice on NASCAR over season finale venue change
In the same podcast, Kevin Harvick addressed the announcement NASCAR made recently regarding the season finale venue rotation, something drivers like the veteran has been calling for a long time. It will start from the 2026 season, with Homestead Miami getting the nod to host next years event before moving to the next track.

Kevin Harvick is happy with the change as he like most in the industry was looking forward to. He then asserted that Miami and Phoenix are two tracks that naturally deserve a spot in the rotation spot. The other two tracks he wants to be featured are Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Going back to Homestead is something that the industry likes. I think being able to know that this championship race is gonna be a rotation. I think it’s natural that it goes to Homestead and Phoenix. My list would be Charlotte, Las Vegas to add to that list of rotation.
Kevin Harvick said.
Even if Vegas doesn’t make the Cut some reason, Charlotte should as it’s a track that has deep roots in the industry and the weather at NC during the finale month will not be an issue for NASCAR. It would be interesting to see if Kevin Harvick will get his wish regarding the track or the sanctioning body will take different decisions.
