Stewart Haas Racing and the whole NASCAR garage are set to say their goodbyes to 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick. The man who debuted in the Cuyp series as Dale Earnhardt‘s replacement is retiring at the end of the 2023 season. He plans to spend more time with his family and transition into a sports analyst role next season.
He raced in most probably the final superspeedway event of his career on Sunday at Talladega. Superspeedway, especially Dega, is known for its chaos and wild wrecks. It’s one of the NASCAR events the families of racers fear the most, and Harvick’s wife, DeLana Harvick, is no different. She was quick to express her happiness that her husband wouldn’t have to return to the track ever.
She took it to her official X account to express her happiness. DeLana posted, “ Alllllmost.. While it didn’t end like we hoped, I’m taking Pops home in one piece never to return, and I am ohhhhhh so grateful.” The post was a testament to how much she cares about Harvick and his safety.
But she also shared her disappointment that Harvick couldn’t score a win. He finished second, just 12/1000th, a second slower than winner Ryan Blaney. To make a bad day worse, NASCAR disqualified him for a windshield screw infraction. So, he was awarded a P38 finish instead of the impressive second place he secured.

Former NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler claims his wife said the same to him when he retired
Ex-driver Elliott Sadler, who has raced in the Cup series for over 16 years, came across the message and claimed that his wife had the same words when he retired. Sadler drove for midfield teams for most of his career.
Hence, the Superspeedway was often a potential victory opportunity for the teams as it’s one of the great equalizers of NASCAR tracks. So, it isn’t a surprise that the people who love him were conserved as if he was going all out there despite knowing the risks.
He posted in reply to DeLana on X, “You took the words right out of my wife’s mouth when I retired … we were so happy as a family to never have to go back to that place again…”
