‘I feel like he’s a big meathead, who’s learned how to fight’ – Kevin Holland expects a stiff challenge against Marvin Vettori

Kevin Holland is back in the spotlight. ‘The Trailblazer’ (who accepted the fight on short notice) will be taking on Marvin Vettori this weekend at UFC on ABC 2 after Darren Till pulled out of the fight recently due to an injured collar bone. Kevin Holland had been on an unbelievable win streak, raking up 5 wins in the year 2020 alone, before it came to an end, last month against Derek Brunson.

Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA in Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Kevin Holland gave his honest thoughts on his opponent Marvin Vettori and predicted the game plan the Italian might come up with.

‘I hope he goes out there and displays some of his boxing or he might go out there with the Derek Brunson game plan’- Kevin Holland

Kevin Holland was quoted as saying, “I feel like he’s a big meathead, who’s learned how to fight. So, it’s gonna be fun. He has a very good coach. Once again I’m going against a legendary coach in the game, so that’ll be fun. It will be really fun to go out there and do that.” [H/T FirstSportz]

He continued, “I think Marvin Vettori has grown a lot since that Israel Adesanya loss. I hope he goes out there and tries to display some of his boxing or he might go out there with the Derek Brunson game plan and look for the takedown. Either way, it’s going to be a good competitive night and that’s what I am looking forward to.” [H/T FirstSportz]

Kevin Holland is coming off the aforementioned loss against Derek Brunson at the recently concluded UFC Fight Night. He was completely out-struck and outwrestled throughout the fight, and hardly even made an attempt to come back into the fight.

Marvin Vettori, on the other hand, is coming off a war against Jack Hermansson at UFC on ESPN in December 2020, and will be looking forward to breaking into the top 5 of the middleweight rankings.
