Yesterday a piece of news left the world in great demise that one of the greatest footballers of all time Diego Maradona passed away after suffering a heart attack. Maradona is one of the greatest footballers ever and he is the reason players like Lionel Messi joined football. He made the sport football popular in Argentina and he died in his homeland.

 There are some sports personalities that surpass the greatness of their sport and even the sportsperson of other sports admires them. After his death, many of the MMA fighters pay tribute to ‘El Pibe de Oro’ on social media.

Mike Tyson says, “The hand of God, Maradona has left us. In 86 we both won our championships. They use to compare two of us. He was one of my hero’s and a friend. I respected him so much. He will be greatly missed”.

The football legend also fought in a boxing match against Peter Mathebula, At that time Peter won the WBA title so he thought to challenge Maradona and he accepted it. This fight ended in a draw but they provided a great show for the fans.

Khabib Nurmagomodov is amongst the first UFC fighters who came forward to extend his tribute to this legend. ‘The Eagle’ shared a post on Instagram which says, “One of the greatest athletes of all time, because of Maradona millions people love football”.

Ariel Helwani says, “Maradona was a hero in my house growing up. My brothers and I wore #10 when we played soccer because of him. We bought tickets for Argentina x Nigeria World Cup ’94 at Foxboro just to see him live. That ended up being his last WC match. What a legend. May he rest in peace.”

This is indeed a great loss for the football fraternity and all the people who love Maradona. He was a true hero and he will stay in our hearts forever.
