One of the biggest superstars in the history of football, Lionel Messi made history when he won his seventh Ballon d’Or last month. Messi was more than excited to receive this award, and he had the full support of his fans.
Many believe he wasn’t the right choice for the same. With Messi on their side, Argentina won Copa America, his goal count was 17 assists and 50 goals. However, his rival Robert Lewandowski scored 65 goals for his country and club this year. He also won Bundesliga, and he was a very strong contender for the award.
Robert Lewandowski was supposed to win Ballon d’Or last year, he showcased some incredible football during the season but the event got canceled because of Covid-19. Messi and Robert were very close this years, but Messi got the award, and some of the fans aren’t happy.

MMA legend and former UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov follows football to the dot. He is a big fan of the sport, and he has claimed that it’s the best sport in the world. He also thinks Messi wasn’t the right recipient for this award. Khabib is also a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, and now that Messi has more Ballon d’Or than Ronaldo, Khabib couldn’t help but speak on this.
He claimed, “I would give it to Lewandowski or Benzema. One of them. Lewandowski. I think. Last three years, he is the best football player. We can just look at his results. What he does. He has won the Champions League. He has scored more than 120 goals last two years for the national team and club. He has 65 goals this year. It is too much. For football, I think it is too much.
