The UFC has produced some of the biggest superstars in the world of combat sports. As the premier MMA promotion, it has also attracted athletes from other sports as fans. NFL legend Tom Brady is one such fan, and he recently talked about former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Tom Brady is one of the biggest names in American sports history and a huge UFC fan.
Brady was also the reason behind Dana White getting the idea for the iconic UFC Noche event at the Las Vegas Sphere. Recently, Brady appeared on popular UFC influencer Nina Drama’s Kick stream, where he answered several questions about sports and fighting. When asked about his UFC GOAT, Brady named two fighters, both of whom are former UFC champions.

Jon Jones is widely regarded as the greatest UFC fighter because of his longevity and consistent success against elite competition. He became the youngest champion in UFC history and defended his title multiple times against former champions and top contenders. The fighter recently declared retirement from fighting, but has shown interest in coming back and fighting at the White House event.

On the other hand, Khabib Nurmagomedov retired with a perfect 29-0 record, something extremely rare at the highest level of MMA. His elite wrestling, pressure, and control allowed him to overwhelm world-class strikers and grapplers with ease. Beyond wins, his discipline, humility, and respect for the sport strengthened his legacy and global influence.
Tom Brady is well known for his attitude, discipline, and relentless mindset, which likely makes him connect with Khabib Nurmagomedov. That same mentality fueled Brady’s record 7 Super Bowl victories, achieved through consistency, preparation, and leadership across decades. He won 6 Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and added another historic championship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tom Brady picked his ideal UFC team to fight an alien invasion, which also included Jon Jones, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Daniel Cormier. With two former heavyweights and a wrestler like Nurmagomedov, fans were really intrigued by these picks from Brady.
Khabib Nurmagomedov gets called out by old UFC rival Tony Ferguson
Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov developed one of UFC history’s most compelling rivalries without ever sharing the Octagon. The lightweight veterans were booked to fight multiple times across several years as Nurmagomedov was the champ.

However, injuries, weight cut failures, visa complications, and last-minute withdrawals destroyed plans, frustrating fans, promoters, and the fighters themselves. As the years passed, the matchup became MMA’s greatest what-if, symbolizing the chaos of timing and the unforgiving nature of elite competition.
Khabib Nurmagomedov eventually retired undefeated as lightweight champion, while Ferguson endured declining injuries and losses after an incredible prime run period. Recently, Ferguson explained the fight never happened, giving insider details regarding the Dagestani’s family.
There were different plans for Khabib. His dad made sure that we didn’t fight the one time, the day before he skipped out of UFC 209. They surrounded my family and my team, and then they realized that I wasn’t a punk and that I was going to win. They were scared. They didn’t want that loss on his record because they needed him for some political reasons.

Since he retired from UFC, Ferguson has shifted his focus towards Misfits Boxing and beat Salt Papi to win the Interim middleweight championship. This weekend, the former UFC fighter is scheduled to fight Warren Spencer in the undercard of the Andrew Tate vs. Chase DeMoor title fight.
