Khamzat Chimaev has successfully established himself as the most dominant wrestler in the current UFC roster, consistently proving grappling superiority. In his last fight, the ‘Borz’ dominated Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319 for five rounds to become the new middleweight champion convincingly.
Chimaev was able to impose his will against DDP, but no one in their wildest dreams expected to see him do that against Jon Jones. The former double champ and Chimaev recently met in Chechnya, where they playfully wrestled each other casually in the streets.
It was cold weather, and they appeared relaxed and comfortable during their brief outdoor grappling session. Chimaev quickly took Jones down with ease, surprising many observers despite the encounter remaining lighthearted and non-hostile throughout the moment.
After Chimaev completed the takedown, Jones jokingly ran away while repeatedly saying no and asking people not to record anything. The interaction quickly gained attention across social media platforms, where fans expressed surprise at Chimaev’s effortless takedown against the ‘Bones’.

Their meeting concluded with mutual respect, as Jones acknowledged Chimaev’s impressive skills and potential while both maintaining a friendly atmosphere. For the unversed, the reigning 185lbs kingpin has always been a huge fan of Jones and openly calls the legendary champion the true GOAT.
The Russian star has repeatedly praised Jones’ dominance, explaining that no other fighter has achieved success across different weight classes. Chimaev also stated he ranks Jones higher than Khabib Nurmagomedov on his personal list of all-time greatest fighters.
After the video went viral, Jones agreed that the takedown was legit and credited Chimaev for his impressive shape and strength. A few months ago, Khamzat Chimaev publicly discussed moving up in weight to eventually challenge light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Many fans and experts previously questioned the size difference, but after watching Chimaev take down Jones, opinions have certainly changed. Nevertheless, for the ‘Borz’, there remain several important rivalries requiring attention that he must address carefully at the moment.
Khamzat Chimaev gets slammed by Ian Garry following their recent altercation
The recent altercation between Ian Garry and Khamzat Chimaev occurred after UFC Qatar, where both fighters unexpectedly crossed paths. Tension escalated when Chimaev approached Garry closely, initiating a heated verbal exchange that quickly drew attention from individuals present there.

During the confrontation, Chimaev suddenly pushed Garry backward, surprising many witnesses who did not expect physical contact to happen there. In response to the shove, the Irishman called Chimaev little (expletive) energy, expressing frustration and refusing to be intimidated publicly.
Garry later said he did not expect a champion to behave like that, criticizing Chimaev’s actions as unprofessional and surprising. Following the incident, ‘The Future’ has talked about it in detail during his recent interview with Ariel Helwani.
In that moment, due to potential language barrier and misunderstanding, I think Khamzat took that the wrong way as like ‘he’s not gonna fight me,’ and then everything switched, and he started to curse. I think I shouldn’t expect someone like Khamzat to have the self control, I think he’s just always looking for the fight. I think you look like a child, not a champion.

The incident gained attention, with fans discussing the unexpected altercation and rising tension between the two fighters across various social platforms. In a now-deleted post, Chimaev sent a stern warning to Garry that the fighter won’t survive against him.
Chimaev is well known for taking down his opponents, smothering them, and finishing in a dominant way. In a potential fight, his physicality can be too much for Garry to take; however, the Irishman doesn’t seem to be bothered.
