In the main event of UFC Vancouver, Reinier De Ridder faced Brendan Allen in a highly anticipated middleweight bout. Heading into the fight, RDR was considered the clear betting favorite; however, the Dutch fighter suffered a shocking loss. Reinier de Ridder lost the bout via TKO, and this unexpected result gave Khamzat Chimaev the perfect opportunity to mock RDR.
Since becoming the newly crowned middleweight champion after defeating Dricus Du Plessis, Chimaev has drawn constant callouts from De Ridder. Many fans believed the former ONE Championship titleholder possessed all the necessary tools to defeat the dominant ‘Borz’.
Chimaev also showed interest in this potential matchup and discussed the challenge openly during multiple recent media interviews. However, following RDR’s shocking loss, Chimaev wasted no opportunity to mock and taunt him on social media.

From the second round onward, Allen completely took control of the fight, dictating the pace and overwhelming Reinier De Ridder. He neutralized de Ridder’s dangerous jiu-jitsu skills effectively, reversed multiple grappling positions, and began landing devastating ground-and-pound strikes.

By the end of Round 3, De Ridder looked visibly exhausted, struggling to defend as Allen maintained relentless top pressure and control. Allen’s dominance continued in Round 4, landing 128 total strikes compared to De Ridder’s 51 while holding over eleven minutes of control.
After the fourth round, RDR could barely rise from his stool, prompting his corner to stop the fight before the fifth round began. The official result came as a TKO via corner stoppage victory for Brendan Allen, confirmed between roundds four and five.
Going into the fight, the Dutch star was riding a strong five-fight win streak and was undefeated in the UFC. In his previous bout, he defeated former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, which significantly boosted his position in the official rankings. Given those performances, many fans and experts were shocked by how de Ridder gave up after Round 4.
There were several mixed reactions from fans, with many speculating that a flu or illness affected Reinier De Ridder’s performance. Others pointed out that RDR had already fought three times this year, which could have severely impacted his overall conditioning. Nevertheless, while Khamzat Chimaev may not face De Ridder next, there are definitely other fighters showing strong interest.
Brendan Allen calls out Khamzat Chimaev after beating Reinier De Ridder
Originally, Reinier De Ridder was scheduled to face Anthony Hernandez in the main event of UFC Vancouver. Following “Fluffy” Hernandez’s unfortunate withdrawal, Brendan Allen stepped in as a last-minute replacement and managed to shock the entire audience. Earlier this year, Allen was struggling through a tough two-fight losing streak, but he has now turned things around with momentum.

After his dominant win over Reinier De Ridder, Allen was full of confidence and immediately called out Khamzat Chimaev. He passionately demanded a title shot against the newly crowned champion and took verbal shots at other top middleweights.
Chimaev, you want a good grappler? You want some of the young and hungry? Come get it, baby. If not, Dricus, where you at? I have been trying to get you for a minute and if not Sean, it’s time to run it back.

Khamzat Chimaev will most likely face Nassourdine Imavov next for his first middleweight title defense inside the UFC Octagon. Imavov recently secured an impressive victory over Caio Borralho, showcasing his strong grappling defense and overall championship-level composure under pressure.
Many analysts believe Imavov’s technical style could genuinely challenge Chimaev’s aggressive wrestling and relentless forward pressure in the cage. Nevertheless, for Brendan Allen, this evolving situation opens several exciting opportunities among the UFC’s top-ranked and elite middleweight contenders.
