In the main event of UFC 319 in August, Khamzat Chimaev became the new UFC middleweight champion. ‘Borz’ beat former champion Dricus Du Plessis by dominating him for five rounds with his suffocating wrestling. Now, fans are eager to see him defend his title next, and Du Plessis has already made a prediction.

Recently, Nassourdine Imavov beat Caio Borralho and called out Khamzat Chimaev for a title fight, which got massive attention. Both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout, but no official announcement has been made yet. Recently, Du Plessis discussed this potential matchup and predicted that Chimaev will win against Imavov.

I think that’s the only thing that makes sense is Imavov getting a shot at the belt. It’s gonna be a interesting fight but I think Khamzat wins that fight, for sure.

Khamzat Chimaev is undefeated in the UFC and has dominated the promotion since making his highly anticipated debut. Since entering the organization, Chimaev has consistently overwhelmed some of the biggest names with his relentless pace. He defeated veterans such as Kamaru Usman, Robert Whittaker, and Gilbert Burns to establish himself as the most dangerous wrestler on the roster.

To fight him, Dricus Du Plessis did everything in his power and focused heavily on improving his wrestling. His coach was confident about the preparation and believed the training camp was enough to defend the takedowns. However, in the fight, the South African failed to do anything against Borz’s relentless pressure and looked helpless.

The performance even led many fans to not appreciate the fighting style and accused Khamzat Chimaev of being boring and not finishing his opponent. However, many experts like Demetrious Johnson credited the Chechen for dominating a champion like that for five rounds.

Joe Rogan also talked about the fight and mentioned how DDP would never be able to beat Chimaev’s wrestling. It will be interesting to see whether the Chechen fighter can carry this undefeated momentum in his upcoming potential fight against Nassourdine Imavov.

Nassourdine Imavov isn’t fully convinced to fight Khamzat Chimaev

Nassourdine Imavov has steadily climbed the UFC middleweight rankings through consistent performances and impressive victories against elite competition. Known for his technical striking, strong fundamentals, and improving takedown defense, Imavov fights with composure and intelligence. His size, cardio, and ability to stay dangerous over five rounds make him a legitimate threat to Khamzat Chimaev.

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has already predicted that Imavov has a great chance to beat Chimaev. The Frenchman has also mentioned that he doesn’t have any bad blood against ‘Borz’ and just wants the championship belt. In a recent interview, the French fighter talked about how his mother wasn’t okay with him fighting Khamzat Chimaev.

I called my mother to ask her about the fight; she doesn’t know anything about MMA. They said it’s not a fight to be had, it shouldn’t be between two brothers. That’s why it’s complicated for us. But at the same time, we don’t have a choice… We know that next it’s going to be me. I think I’ve done enough. We’ve talked to the UFC; the UFC told us they wanted to do the fight in February.

Chimaev has said something similar, stating that Imavov is a good guy and he prefers not fighting someone from Dagestan. The middleweight champ spoke about the intense relationship between Dagestan and Chechnya and his respect for Dagestani fighters. He also mentioned his relationship with Dagestani stars like Khabib Nurmagomedov, making the future situation especially interesting.
