‘King of clay’ Rafael Nadal lifts 13th Roland Garros title, equalises Roger Federer record with 20th Grand Slam

The French Open 2020 finals could not have been any better. The men’s final was a treat to watch as the world no.1 Novak Djokovic clashed with the 12 time French Open champion Rafael Nadal. Both the players were chasing history, Rafa was chasing his 20th Grand Slam title while Novak Djokovic was chasing his 2nd Roland Garros title.

Playing his 100th Roland Garros match, Nadal was breathing fight as he bageled Djokovic i. First set. In less than an hour, he won the opening set 6-0, breaking Djokovic thrice. This was second time Djokovic bageled by Nadal on Clay after Rome Masters in 2019.

Djokovic was out of shots throughput the match. Whenever Djokovic tried drop shot, Nadal answered it with perfection. Novak won his first game of the final match after nearly an hour and only broke Nadal in set 3.

Third set was neck to neck untill 11th game when Novak lost on his serve by virtue of a double fault. In 12th game Nadal served for 13th French Open title and won it with an ace. In 2 hours and 38 minutes Nadal won 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 to lift his 13th Roland Garros title.
