From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region.

His departure marks the end of an era, as he was a key figure in the Warriors’ dynasty alongside Stephen Curry, who also had a classy goodbye message for him. Despite his departure, the Warriors have announced plans to retire Thompson’s No. 11 jersey when he decides to retire from the game, a testament to his impact on the franchise.

Thompson will now join the Dallas Mavericks on a 3-year, $50 million deal, seeking a fifth championship alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Thompson’s legacy with the Warriors is cemented, and he will always be remembered as a Splash Brother and a champion.

Klay Thompson’s camp made final offer to Warriors before signing with Mavericks

Klay Thompson’s camp made a final offer to the Golden State Warriors before he entered free agency, and according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Kendra Andrews, they proposed a two-year deal worth roughly $20 million per season. However, the Warriors did not accept the offer, leading Klay Thompson to sign a three-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Two weeks prior, Thompson's camp had made one final offer to the Warriors, a two-year deal for roughly $20 million per season, sources said. The response was the same as it had been for nearly a year: We just can't do it yet.

This decision came after Thompson felt disrespected by the Warriors’ failure to offer him a contract extension in 2022, despite winning their fourth championship in eight years. His camp had proposed four different offers to the Warriors before this offseason, but the team wanted him to wait while they pursued other moves.

The Warriors reportedly explored trading for LeBron James, Mikal Bridges, Paul George, and Lauri Markkanen, but none of these deals materialized. As a result, Thompson decided to leave the Warriors after a remarkable 13-year stint, during which he won four NBA championships and six Western Conference titles, averaging 19.6 points per game.
