Klay Thompson expresses interests in winning All-Star Game MVP Award

Klay Thompson has been one of the top shooters in the league based of his past performances with the Golden State Warriors. He helped form one of the biggest NBA dynasties ever along with a few other All-Time greats. It was never an easy task playing alongside several All-Stars but Klay managed to out-shine the rest at his own time, often dominating the hardwood floor as well.

It has been almost a year since Klay Thompson made his return to the NBA after a two-year-long hiatus due to injury. Ever since then, Klay Thompson has struggled to find his groove. With significantly low shooting percentages this season, the 5x All-Star has received massive criticism for it. People have started calling his rusty, washed and all sorts of things that a player would rather not want to hear being said to them.

Recently, he spoke to Howard Beck of Sports Illustrated saying he is determined to get back into All-Star contention. “I’m gonna do it again, at least one more time before I’m done,” said Thompson to Beck. He all said he wants to win the All-Star Game MVP award as well. There is nothing scarier than a player, who is known his dominant spurts to be as determined as he is.

It would be very tough to crack through the All-Star voting this season especially due to his recent slump. Besides this, there are several other players on the rise like Devin Booker, Ja Morant, Lauri Markkanen, James Harden and many more. So the chances of him getting to play in the All-Star games this year are very slim. However, he can still compete in the All-Star Game pre-events. He is a former Three-Point Contest Champion after all.

Stephen Curry recently was removed from rotation due to an injury sustained against the Indiana Pacers. He was later diagnosed with a shoulder subluxation which is a partial dislocation. There is no specific time given for his recovery, but the Warriors are down an important piece that almost carries their offense.

Klay Thompson will have to remain at his best if the situation does not get better. Despite having Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole to help on the offensive end, Thompson happens to be their only other scoring option. He has been shooting a career low 39.9% from the field this season averaging 18.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. This isn’t the ideal Klay Thompson the Warriors are truly dependent on, which is the biggest point of concern at the moment.
