Gilbert Arenas in a recent episode of his podcast show, the Gil’s Arena predicted a fiery performance from Klay Thompson when he faces his former team, the Golden State Warriors, as a Dallas Mavericks player. Thompson’s first game against the Warriors is scheduled for the 12th of November.
The Mavericks, led by seasoned coach Jason Kidd, are expected to feature Klay Thompson prominently in their attack. Kidd, according to Kenyon Martin, may even allow the four-time NBA winner to take up to 35 shots, as an attempt to leverage his shooting prowess to maximum effect.

Kenyon Martin then went on to add his two cents on the same.
Klay’s going to get 35 shots. They’re going to make sure. [Jason Kidd], he’s going to make sure [Klay] gets all of the shots. ... J-Kidd got a****** in him, so yeah. He’s gonna make sure that boy gets all the shots.Kenyon Martin said
This strategy could prove devastating, given the Mavericks already have the league’s deadly duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The combination of Doncic, Irving, and a vengeful Thompson who comes to a Mavs as a proven champion, makes the then a formidable opponent.
The Warriors, on the other hand, will miss Thompson’s experience and leadership in the coming season. His departure leaves a void in their championship-proven core and although Steph Curry is okay with the lack of serious trades, fans would be eager to see how well the Dubs perform in the coming season.
Klay Thompson’s heartfelt advice to young NBA players
Klay Thompson has faced his share of adversity, including injuries and fitness that eventually resulted in his departure from the Golden State Warriors. Now with the Dallas Mavericks, Thompson shared a bit of wisdom with the next generation.
During a recent workout, he urged young players to appreciate their opportunity, as their time in the league is shorter than they think. This heartfelt message resonated with Warriors young guard Brandin Podziemski, who co-signed the veteran’s words on social media.
Thompson had a significant impact on Podziemski during his rookie season, as he served as a valuable veteran presence. As he now seeks his fifth NBA ring with the Mavs, he would hope to put behind his past and focus on the future with their opening game coming up at home against Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs.
