The Mavericks are dealing with a severe injury crisis that is only getting worse. Notably, Mavs stars Klay Thompson and Dwight Powell walked off and subbed out to an empty bench against the Milwaukee Bucks.

This only serves to highlight the Dallas Mavericks’ extreme weakness this year. Thompson and a few notable stars are the only ones present on the roster. The Bucks defeated Dallas by 30 points on the road on Wednesday night. Due to the accumulation of injuries, head coach Jason Kidd had just eight players available. Fans are furious with this and took to social media regarding this topic.

A recent arrival, Anthony Davis, had a nearly perfect injury record for over two years with the Lakers. Ironically, he got hurt in his initial match with the team. Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford also suffered injuries shortly after him, putting the Mavericks with hardly any important players in their rotation.

The situation worsened even further this past week. This was when Kyrie Irving and Jaden Hardy suffered severe injuries during their match against the Sacramento Kings. Irving’s season ended due to an ACL tear, which may also prevent him from playing at the start of next season.

Other players, like Dante Exum and P.J. Washington, are out for the Mavericks. They can only rely on the following healthy players at this time: Klay Thompson, Max Christie, Spencer Dinwiddie, Dwight Powell, Brandon Williams, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper. This is because they presently have seven injured players.

In the long run, the Mavericks could suffer greatly. That is if they brought the likes of Thompson and Davis only to compete and lose in the playoffs. Overall, the Mavs have had a terrible 30 days. In addition to ending their season, they also ran the risk of losing their entire future in such a short period of time.
