Klay Thompson wrote on his Instagram story, “I’m crying! (with many laughing emojis)” regarding his upcoming matchup against his former teammates in the next 2024-25 NBA season. Interestingly, Thompson will be playing with the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, which has got the Mavs fans excited.

On the contrary, Thompson was one of the most decorated shooters for the Warriors side throughout his 13-year tenure alongside Curry, also winning 4 NBA titles in the process. Nevertheless, Thompson and the Warriors could not come to an agreement on his contract extension which led to him leaving for the Mavs during the 2024 NBA Free Agency.

Draymond Green and his son were heartbroken after Klay Thompson’s departure from the Warriors

Klay Thompson leaving the Golden State Warriors was not something one would expect in and around the NBA, this left his teammate Draymond Green and his son heartbroken. Notably, Green opened up on his show, the Draymond Green Show regarding how Thompson’s departure impacted him and also how tough it was to explain it to his son, DJ, who was “sad” after getting to know the Thompson news.

I was like, ‘Oh by the way, Klay not gon be on our team no more’. And he’s like ‘What?’. I’m like, ‘He’s going to Dallas with Luka’. And he’s like, ‘Why can’t we get Luka?!’. I’m like, ‘It don’t work that way, I need to teach you about the salary cap. Luka make way too much money for us to get Luka’. And he was just like, sitting there sad.
