Kodai Senga
One of the top three free agents this year, Kodai Senga has successfully caught the interest of one of the biggest Major League Baseball teams through his outstanding 2022 performance. It’s not only the New York Yankees who are checking out the player, but also the Boston Red Sox.
They are said to have reached out to the 29-year-old player after his incredible personal best ERA of 1.94 in Japanese leagues. Out of 22 games pitched, he recorded 11-6 with 156 strikeouts in 144 innings. If trained well, he can be one of the best fits in MLB after this free season.
Though there has been a recurring concern that Japanese players need a lot of time adjusting to American MLB, these rumors have been put out by star achievers Shohei Ohtani and Seiya Suzuki. With the addition of Senga to the Yankees team, they could easily bolster their roster with manpower.

Senga has been a dominant presence in the Nippon Baseball League, winning the All-Star 3 times, was the Japanese Series Champion 5 times, and Pacific League ERA leader in 2020 among many other achievements. After making his debut in 2012 for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, he is set to step on MLB grounds this season.
It’s also a nice change for the Yankees to check out other players who can reinforce their team further, apart from dealing with free-agent Aaron Judge. Judge’s contract has accumulated great attention all over the baseball world, while players like Kodai Senga are waiting for the spotlight.
Though it’s not sure whether the Yankees or the Boston Reds will sign him up or not, the social media fan base from both sides is delighted by the news. Apart from these two teams, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and Chicago Cubs have all signed up as Senga’s suitors in the race.
His value is bound to increase by the looks of the play he delivers. He could easily join a team with less time to settle in and still produce All-Star-level games. Unfortunately, he is yet to prove his worth among the big leagues, so his price in the market will fall short compared to other pitchers. Although, Senga is sure to prove himself as an asset, no matter which team he signs up with.
