Ronald Koeman has praised his team’s winning mentality as Barcelona came from behind to win 3-2 against Real Betis. Goals from Messi, Trincao and an own goal from Ruiz helped the Blaugranas get the victory.
Koeman had rested his key players for this game including the likes of De Jong, Messi and Pedri. Messi came on in the second half and proved influential for Barcelona as they trailed 1-0 after the 1st half.
Trincao scored his first goal for Barcelona

Koeman brought on all three of his rested players in the second half after a disappointing performance in the opening 45 minutes. Borja Iglesias scored a goal in the 38th minute for Real Betis to give them the lead at Benito Villamarin.
Barcelona equalized through Messi in the 59th minute and went ahead from an own goal by Victor Ruiz. Betis fought back into the game as Victor Ruiz made up for his mistake and scored for his own team to bring the match level at 2-2.
Koeman’s substitution paid dividends once again as Trincao scored the winner, which also happened to be his 1st goal for the club. He praised the youngster for his work-rate and the goal.
“The results have helped us to believe and the team has used their mentality to win this game. This is the way,” he said.
“He [Trincao] is young, he has to adapt to the level of a big club like Barcelona. We’ve been giving him minutes.
“In the last few games, he’s had bad luck missing chances. Today he was decisive and that’s important for him and for us.”
Barcelona are currently 2nd in La Liga trailing runaway league leaders Atletico Madrid by 7 points. They have a busy week coming up with the Copa del Rey semifinal coming up against Sevilla.
