Koeman wants Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum at Camp Nou

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is looking for midfield options to start a complete overhaul in the squad. Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal are on their way out with vacancy for players to arrive. Thus, the situation between Liverpool and Wijnaldum is driving his attention. The Dutchman has just a year left on his contract with no extension talks happening just yet.

The English Premier League champions are also monitoring Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich who has a similar situation. Wiljnaldum is pivotal to Liverpool system but the Spanish midfielder will provide creativity from the region and ultimately led the club to make its decision.

Gini does all the dirty work

Liverpool’s fabulous front three and their fullbacks take so much limelight that the fundamental of their midfielders is overlooked. While Fabinho and club captain Jordan Henderson proves vital in their shielding and passing, Wijnaldum does something special. He is the guy that keeps a cool mind in the press to shove off markers and also come up with important strikes than the other two. The Dutch international overall work rate is massive and will rightfully fit into Koeman’s plan.

The two worked earlier with the national team. Over there, Koeman build up a brilliant partnership between him and De jong as the Netherlands reached the Nations league final and also qualified for the Euros. That midfield dynamism got exciting days back in the dressing room for the nation. The new boss is looking forward to reignite the partnership in club football now with Barcelona. So, if Wijnaldum arrives at Camp Nou, Barcelona will be bracing for something special. This then will lift a lot of the issues stifling the club and add more quality to the team.

Liverpool may go for Thiago

Fans of the Catalonian giants can start dreaming about the move because Liverpool continues to keep tabs on Thiago. Coming from Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Brazilian legend Mazinho’s son became one of the dominating midfielders at Bayern Munich. His incredible passing sense and dribbling makes him a real asset. However, he denied a contract extension at Bayern triggering speculations about his next destination. The German giants are also willing to let him go this summer than for free.

If the rumors do materialize into moves, both clubs will be in for a treat. Barcelona would re-figure their known philosophy with Wijnaldum exiling in the midfield while Liverpool would have the creativity from similar position if Thiago arrives at Anfield.
