Air-blocking with the Next-Gen cars became a major point of discussion after last week’s race at Dover. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin won the race, using the aero-character of the 7th gen car to his advantage to defend against Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson, who towards the end had the fastest car.
Kyle Larson himself won stager two against his teammate Alex Bowman using air-blocking. After the race, the 2021 Cup champion urged NASCAR to get rid of the rear-view cameras from the cars and get back to using mirrors. He highlighted that the technology has made air-blocking too easy and ruined the fun of racing a bit.

Now two times Cup champion Kyle Busch has come forward sharing his opinion on the matter ahead of the Kansas Cup race weekend. He pointed out that he 1000% aggress with the demand and admitted that drivers should only be using spotter, as the rear-view mirrors doesn’t give a separation point.
1000% [Only using spotters] gives you a separation point. The camera or the mirror right now is zero separation. You can literally just watch the thing and just go [move to air block] instantly, right?Kyle Busch said at Kansas.
Would @kylebusch agree with @KyleLarsonRacin's idea to get rid of the rear camera? Busch says he would not only "1000%" agree, but also says NASCAR should ban the top mirror and only allow drivers to keep the left-side mirror for safety. Busch says spotters would then become even…

Kyle Busch is coming Kansas with hopes of continuing the strong run
While talking his P4 finish at Dover, which was his only the second top-5, of the 2024 season, he pointed out that he felt good to finally have a normal day. He is longing to have similar race weeks in the coming weeks.

Overall, it was a good day and it felt good to have a ‘normal’ day with no issues. We would definitely love to get to the point where we have more races like today.Kyle Busch said at Dover.
He might probably be in for a good day on Sunday as he is set to start at P5 on Sunday after yet another impressive qualifying run. While winning the race will be a longshot for the team at the moment, he would be hoping to secure at least a top-5 finish at the end of the day.
