The NASCAR Cup Series race at COTA last weekend featured some significant wrecks and incidents, that changed the race as a whole. One of the most outrageous incidents of the day was Team Penske Racing’s Austin Cindric right hooking Ty Dillon. This resulted in a major penalty being imposed on him by NASCA$R.

Austin Cindric was docked 50 championship’s points and a $50,000 fine. But considering the past rulings, it wasn’t the right call from the sanctioning body, as the racer who did the same got one race suspensions. This made two times Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, call out NASCAR as they left Cindric of the hook.

I think the intent is intent. I do not agree with the call there, and I don’t care where it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s Daytona, Talladega, Martinsville, or wherever. There’s intent, and it’s not his first offense, either. So, he got off the hook on that one.

Kyle Busch said via Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut.

He then admitted that in the past he has been guilty of a right hook and highlighted how NASCAR made him last out of a race. Busch then hinted that being a Roger Penske driver might have helped him not to get a massive penalty.

I mean, I’ve been guilty of it before, and I’ve been sat out of it before. So, you know, maybe it’s all in who your last name is.

Kyle Busch wants to win races and contend for a championship. Just to win a race to get in the playoffs, that’s ho-hum for Kyle Busch. It really is. There’s that elite group that Kyle Busch belongs to that [say], ‘Yeah, I want to be in the playoffs… but I wanna have a shot at winning the playoffs and that’s more important than even getting to the playoffs is having that shot to be able to win.

Kyle Petty said.

The comments from the retired racer, shows why Busch sometimes hard on himself when his races don’t go as planned. The veteran always wants to win races, even when the car isn’t as fast it needs to be, as he knows his capability and understands the skill advantage he has.
