Since the start of the Next-Gen era, there have been complaints about the car reducing overall race products and making the drivers more aggressive. The lack of opportunities to pass on the track and the Superspeedway racing becoming more chaotic are also concerning issues that immediately need to be addressed.

In a recent interview, ahead of the Talladega race, when asked about his feelings about the Next-Gen cars on Superspeedway, two-time Cup champion Kyle Busch revealed the cadence of racing isn’t good. The RCR driver hasn’t been able to enjoy the events like he used to in the past and it might be a reason why he has won just four races since 2022.

It drives okay. Ever since they came up with the rear-end rules that, you know, keep the tires on the racetrack and the teams aren’t going crazy on different setup things to try to get the back of the car down, it seems to drive fine. It’s just the cadence of the race isn’t very good.

Kyle Busch told Frontstrech.

The pit-stop becoming more professional and fast has also reduced the chances of strategy playing a significant role in racing. Veterans of the sport, like Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., have made many suggestions regarding how to fix such issues. Busch has now revealed that NASCAR hasn’t given them the attention they deserve.

That’s not very fun. It’s really hard to get runs or any sort of separation, especially with the fuel savings and all that sort of stuff. Shorter time on pit road is how you pass guys. Like, that’s no fun. So, there’s definitely an issue in that. I’ve made my suggestions in one ear out the other.

Kyle Busch reveals the safer option for drivers at drafting tracks

Drafting has changed a lot with the Next-Gen cars, as it’s now become more about the physical push than the aero factor. This also has increased the risk of having more wrecks in the races, as an over-aggressive move by mistake from a driver will lead to the big ones.

So, what is the safest way a driver can take tracks like Talladega? Kyle Busch seems to have some ideas. He believes the drivers should just ride in line, with less throttle, and save fuel, making drafting tracks a whole new arena.

A lot of times, it’s just better, and it’s easier, and it’s safer to just ride in line, part throttle, and save fuel. So, it’s definitely a whole new arena that we’ve got to get used to what speedway racing is.

Kyle Busch said.

The Next-Gen car has changed racing a lot and some of those changes were necessary. But some killed the entertainment that made NASCAR great and has put the sport in a tough spot. The sanctioning body needs to step up and fix the situation for good.
