Since the start of the Next-Gen era, two times Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has been struggling to produce solid runs on the track. He made some progress after joining Richard Childress Racing in 2023, but the strong three race win start he had been sustainable. Since then, the No:8 team has been experiencing a winless streak.
Recently Kyle Busch spoke with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and discussed the factors alongside the slow RCR Chevy that is holding him back. He pointed out that the practice time now being mere minuets has been holding them back, as the teams no longer have the opportunity to make some wedge or height adjustment that can be game changer.

The practice time being so limited and the adjustments that you’re able to make being so limited, you don’t have those tools at your disposal to be able to work with. So it’s, you know, what you show up to the racetrack with is what you got. You can make some shock adjustments and maybe some wedge adjustments and some height adjustments and things like that.
Kyle Busch said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
He asserted that the real magic with the car happens when the teams try out different balance combinations with springs and geometry of the cars. But with limited time to test these changes before the race, teams are held back from getting the true potential out of the car.
But where the proof is in the footing is more so in some springs and moving some geometry stuff around and changing some things of how the car reacts and rolls and whatnot. So that’s where the real magic happens.

Kyle Busch shares his thoughts on retirement
Recently Kyle Busch shared his thoughts on potentially retiring from the sport, how he has been thinking about as he is coming close to the last years of his career. He started thinking about it since 2022, and thinks about it daily.

It was a consideration three years ago. I think daily, you kind of work through those things and those thoughts and where you want to be and what you want to do.
Kyle Busch said.
At the moment Kyle Busch’s focus is on winning races with the team and enjoying every moment of it. He is determined to work hard with the team and get back to winning ways, in order to fight for his third Cup championship.
But when you’re still out here being able to enjoy what you’re doing, working with your team and continuing to try to improve RCR and improve the program and get it to where we all want it and put ourselves in victory lane, we’re going to keep working at it.
Kyle Busch added.
The comments from the future Hall of Famer shows he cherishes the good moments he is having with the team and seems to be determined get back to the elite level he used to race at. It will be interesting to see how long it will take him to achieve this goal, considering RCR needs to step up their game significantly to succeed.
