NASCAR made its street racing debut last season at the city of Chicago and had an impressive race despite heavy rain. Three-time Supercar champion Shane van Gisbergen made the day historic by winning the race with an impressive late pass on his stock car arcing debut, driving for the Project 91 car of Trackhouse Racing.

Since successfully hosting the race at Chicago, NASCAR has been discussing possibility of having more street races or changing locations. Two times Cup champion Kyle Busch was asked about the possibility of having more races and where they should be should hosted ahead of the 2024 Chicago Street race.

The Richard Childress Racing driver doesn’t have any issues with having more street races, but he does have suggestion on where they shouldn’t race. He has pointed out that NASCAR shouldn’t host street races in cities that already have a Cup race date and should host them in places similar to Chicago where the sport isn’t deeply embedded in the market.

If we’re going to do it, we should go to an area that we’re not currently racing in. I wouldn’t change racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to run on the streets of Las Vegas. Let’s go somewhere different.

While further talking to the media, Busch discussed his performance at the track on his debut. He pointed out that he really struggled early part of the race last year and was able to bounce back at the end with the correct strategy to secure a top-5 finish.

We struggled a little bit there early in the race, but we were able to turn it around. Our strategy worked really well, some breaks fell our way, and we were able to score a top-five.

He would be hoping to be better than last year this Sunday and would be looking forward to potentially winning the race as it is one of the wildcard events RCR can have a shot at the victory. It would be interesting to see how the race would playout for the champion driver.
