Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant combine for 66 points as Brooklyn Nets blowout Boston Celtics 123-95


The Brooklyn Nets’ marquee duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving is surely living up to its full potential and hype in the 2020-21 season so far. After combining for 48 points against the Golden State Warriors in their season opener. Now, the pair has combined for 66 points to win over Boston Celtics. With a Boston Celtics roster comprising of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart etc, the Nets did not need to look any further apart from their magical duo.
Talking about Kyrie Irving first, it was his first appearance at the TD Garden since leaving Boston Celtics. Irving surely knew how to great his former team, scoring 37 points against the. Not only that, he registered 8 assists and 6 rebounds also. Coming onto Kevin Durant, he surely knows how to lead the squad after missing an entire season. He has surely returned in top form scoring 29 points, including 3 from behind the arc and 3 assists.

Durant and Irving are only the third duo in franchise history to register 20+ points in each of the Nets’ first two games of a season and the first Brooklyn pair. The other two are Devin Harris and Brook Lopez in 2010-11 and Nate Archibald and John Williamson in 1976-77.
Remember how everyone spoke about Anthony Davis and LeBron James in the previous season? It hasn’t taken Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to give some competition to the former duo. Having not only crushed the Golden State Warriors’ earlier, the Nets had to stamp their authority in the Eastern Conference also. In came a star-studded Boston Celtics. But as many predicted, Durant and Irving were enough to see them through.
It hasn’t only been these two for the Nets. But also, Caris LeVert who has been delivering coming off the bench. Talking about the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum delivered the match winning clutch 3-pointer against the Bucks. But the Nets clearly showed their intent in marking each player defensively. Although Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum scored big number for the Boston side, Nets always were in command in the second half of the game.
