Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is well known for his sharp wit and humor both on and off the court. One underrated aspect of his personality is his unique bond with NBA icon LeBron James—a relationship that hasn’t been in the spotlight much in recent years. However, that dynamic resurfaced in hilarious fashion during a recent livestream, when a classic 2015 Irving interview involving James unexpectedly became the center of attention once again.
Back in 2015, Irving, then a Cavs player, was questioned by a reporter whether he sees James as a father figure. This, in short, left Irving stunned and had a hilarious response to give the reporter. Stars frequently have to dodge pointless inquiries from the media. Some questions, meanwhile, raise serious doubts about the journalist as a whole. This is what Irving dealt with back then.
It’s important to note that this was back in 2015. Most recently, Irving touched on this topic and provided a hilarious response once again. Irving claimed that the situation was weird and also responded he has ‘only one father.’
That was a crazy a** question.
Kyrie Irving said
Kyrie, who also had a significant impact in Cleveland, was perplexed by the topic. Moreover, Irving has termed James as his ‘brother’ several times in the past.
"That was a crazy ass question."

Together, they have accomplished a great deal, especially winning the 2016 NBA Finals against the star-studded Golden State Warriors. This was one of their most memorable moments together.
When the former Cavalier abruptly asked for a trade, many were furious. Supporters believed they would have won more titles together if he had stayed. Unfortunately, that’s how fast the NBA works.
Luka Doncic made a surprise appearance on Kyrie Irving’s live stream
If one has been following the Dallas Mavericks closely over the last 2 or 3 years, then he or she surely has to know about the close bond that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving share. Doncic, a former Maverick, earlier this year had to leave the Mavs to join the Los Angeles Lakers this February in a blockbuster deal sending star defender Anthony Davis in exchange.

Given that, this does not change anything between Irving and Doncic. Their close friendship was on full display in Irving’s live stream. During the live stream, Doncic appeared on FaceTime. He exclaimed, “Streamer! Streamer!” to his former backcourt teammate. Conversations broke out.

Notably, Doncic attempted to conceal his drowsy face from the hundreds of admirers by calling from Europe, where it was four in the morning. Before he signed off to get some much-needed rest, he promised to donate to the charity Irving mentioned.
Mark Cuban and Kyrie Irving show up for promising Mavs youngster Cooper Flagg’s debut
Cooper Flagg, the 2025 No. 1 Draft pick, made his NBA Summer League debut with the backing of Dallas Mavericks star point guard Kyrie Irving and minority owner Mark Cuban. Irving went to Flagg’s summer league opener with several Mavericks, including Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Max Christie, Jaden Hardy, Naji Marshall, and PJ Washington.
Both Irving and Cuban were spotted together on the court in a viral clip making the rounds on the internet. Cuban and Irving can be seen discussing something and having a laugh in the process.

The nine-time All-Star and Cuban were beaming as they supported the Mavs’ newest addition, giving the impression that both approved of what they saw of Flagg. It remains to be seen how Flagg performs alongside Irving in the 2025-26 NBA season.
