Kyrie Irving forced to hire security over serious death threats over recent controversies
NBA star Kyrie Irving in a recent interview revealed a stunning detail regarding his personal life and past controversies.
Kyrie Irving
Since joining the Dallas Mavericks, Kyrie Irving has been having a great time. Although he did not click right away as a mid-season addition to the Mavs, he is now one of their most important players after a good off-season camp. Irving did not endure great spells with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets before joining the Mavs.
It’s crucial to remember that Irving had many off-court problems before joining the Mavs. The Brooklyn Nets sidelined Irving from home games because he refused to receive a vaccination. In addition, he was embroiled in a dispute involving anti-Semitism. Regarding this, Irving most recently opened up on how he received ‘death threats’ and was concerned for his family.
Irving hired extra security for him and his family over the recent controversies. The Mavericks star also blamed the ‘media’ for the hate he received back in 2022 due to his controversies. The early 2020s remained a tough and toxic time for the one-time champion.
Not only did he suffer harassment, but so did anyone who even dared to stand up for Irving. For example, Jay Williams reportedly received death threats because he supported Irving. The ESPN expert thought that Irving’s public retaliation was excessive and unwarranted. That being said, Irving is now settled at the Mavs and has complete freedom over there.
Kyrie Irving’s Nike deal got terminated due to THIS reason
It’s no secret that Kyrie Irving has an intimidating presence on and off the court. Irving became a free agent when his contract with Nike expired in late 2022. For years, the well-liked point guard was supporting a controversial film called Hebrews to Negroes. Furthermore, Irving was subject to consequences from Nike and the Brooklyn Nets for being late in denouncing the obscene “documentary.”
In addition, Irving skipped home games once COVID-19 struck because he would not get the required vaccinations in New York. Remarkably, Irving was in the locker room for a Brooklyn Nets game against the New York Knicks. As a result, the NBA fined the Nets $50,000 for breaking both league health and safety regulations and municipal New York City law.
These kinds of controversies did not sit well with Irving, who eventually left the Nets for the Mavs. This also resulted in the NBA star releasing his new shoe brand in collaboration with the Chinese brand ANTA. Irving is also the chief creative officer of the brand. Hence, it is safe to say that Iriving has put all the controversies behind it and continues to live a happy life.
