A few months ago, Kyrie Irving‘s 2024-25 NBA campaign came to an end because of an ACL injury he suffered on the court. Since the injury, Irving has not gone quiet. Instead, he has given much time to his fans through his different social media channels, his Twitch stream, making various podcast appearances, and more.
In his most recent livestream appearance, Irving aimed a sly jab towards famous NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, but with a twist. Irving talked about Smith’s new deal with ESPN on the podcast, which is rumored to pay him an incredible $100 million over five years. While doing so, Irving claimed that Smith is ‘not worth’ the amount of a contract offered to him.
I’m going to discuss his contract. I’m going to discuss Stephen A’s contract and I’mma say: ‘I don’t think you’re worth it.

The twist here is that since Irving made these remarks, it’s not completely right. For context, Irving did claim on the livestream that ‘someone would clip the Smith contract part’ and one should listen rather than listen to the whole clip thing instead of making up stories over peculiar words that he said. And since Irving said that, that is exactly what happened with Irving’s statement regarding Smith’s contract.
Kyrie literally said “someone might try and clip it up, watch the whole thing” and it happened 😭 pic.twitter.com/BXvD9CfVj8

The Mavs star wasn’t going to overlook this one, of course, because Irving and Smith have a lengthy history that dates back to his time with the Brooklyn Nets. On the other hand, Smith had the exact opposite opinion of him. When Irving received a three-year, $119 million contract from the Dallas Mavericks, he defended himself by saying he was worth more.

Now, it will be intriguing to watch whether or not Smith chimes back on Irving’s recent comments or chooses to ignore them. Given Smith’s nature, he might certainly have something to say on this matter, especially how the social media accounts have portrayed Irving’s remarks about him on the internet lately.
Kyrie Irving made his feelings clear on new teammate Cooper Flagg’s debut
Much noise had been made about the 2025 NBA Draft’s No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg’s NBA Summer League debut a few days ago. However, Flagg’s debut did not go as planned, as he did not live up to the standards he normally does. But, in all of this, his Mavericks teammate Kyrie Irving saw the positive side of his debut. Irving made his feelings clear on his new teammate recently.
He performed extremely well. He’s probably going to put a lot of pressure on himself, saying he didn’t do well, that comes with it, but I’m excited to see all these young guys grow.
Kyrie Irving said
“It’s just a number 1 pick thing” 😆

To support his new teammate, Irving, who inked a three-year contract, traveled to Vegas. As for his teammate, Flagg finished with ten points, a 5-for-21 shooting percentage, and a 0-for-5 three-point shooting %. He also had six rebounds, three steals, one block, and four assists. With time, his numbers are only going to get better.
Lil Wayne has a wholesome reaction to Kyrie Irving’s new kicks via his latest social media post
In addition to having one of the NBA’s greatest signature basketball shoe collections, Mavericks player Kyrie Irving also has an amazing lifestyle footwear line. Irving has brought ANTA (his shoe’s brand) to unprecedented heights of popularity in the US after assuming the role of Chief Creative Officer. So much so that world-famous musician Lil Wayne had a wholesome reaction to the kicks Irving gifted him.
In a reaction video that he shared online, Wayne gushed about Irving’s lifestyle sneakers and expressed that he would like to work with him on more designs in the future.
Fans are fortunate that these wonderful shoes are reasonably priced and simple to purchase. ‘Weezy’ received the Brown ANTA Hela Style “Roots” from Irving. Adult sizes of the sneakers are available for $125 on ANTA.com.
