Kyrie Irving returns to Brooklyn Nets’ Big 3 Debut loss against Cleveland Cavaliers in Double-Overtime

What fanatic wanted to see, happened today, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden all played together for the Brooklyn Nets. The much hyped Big 3 for the Brooklyn Nets could not win the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Talking about the Big 3, Kevin Durant scored team-high 38 points, whereas Kyrie Irving registered 37 points against his name. James Harden scored a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. But as the game went deeper and deeper, the Cavaliers played the snatch the win out of the grip of the Nets.
Brooklyn’s problems were not on the offensive end. But the Nets had visible flaws to work upon the defensive end. They did not have an answer for Collin Sexton in the overtime periods. As the Cleveland guard was able to score 20 consecutive points to cap off a 42-point performance, a career high.

The Big 3 surely made the Cleveland look like underdogs on paper. But on the court, they enjoyed their share of dominance in parts of quarters.
“It felt right,” Durant said of playing with Harden and Irving. “Felt perfect, felt like we belong together. It felt like just joining together is going to be fun. It was a tough start, especially it was an up-and-down game for us.” A win, Durant admitted, would have been more ideal.
Coming into the night, the Cavaliers had the worst offensive rating in the league. Against Brooklyn, Cleveland shot over 51% from the field, including 50% from 3-point range. The Cavaliers ended the game on a 23-8 run. After Brooklyn built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, the Cavaliers went on a 17-0 run that stretched into the second and built a nine-point advantage.
“I think the second overtime, there was fatigue,” Brooklyn Nets’ Coach Steve Nash said. “Right now, it looks like we made the wrong decisions; but if they don’t make that 3 at the end of the first overtime, it looks like it was worthwhile. Sometimes you roll the dice.”
