Kyrie Irving consolidates fans after a loss versus former teammate, Luka Doncic
On Tuesday’s matchup, the Lakers and Luka Doncic got the best of the ailing Dallas Mavericks, beating them at home with a 107-99 final score. The game was especially interesting considering that the Lakers’ latest acquisition went up against his former teammates and his “Hermano”, Kyrie Irving.
After the tough defeat, Uncle Drew took to X to console Dallas fans. In a tweet, that’s since going viral, Irving calls for some patience and resilience from his “tribe”. Despite ending the night with the game high and reducing the deficit, the team couldn’t get ahead during the last few possessions. After the game, here’s what Irving wrote.
Tribe, I love y’all. Stay together no matter what.

Ahead of the game, the 32-year-old made it clear that he is aware of the “narrative” already being pushed by the media and fans. However, the narrative seems to be shifting. Most of his fanbase interpreted this tweet as the Ankletaker looking for the next Luka, while others requested and invited Irving to join his “Hermanos” in LA.
The 2016 NBA champion put the team on his back for 40 minutes on Tuesday. He added 35 points on 12-of-27 shooting from the field and 5-of-11 from behind the arc. Additionally, he grabbed 7 boards and 4 assists while adding 3 steals and 2 blocks to his hustle stats.
Kyrie Irving explains what it was like to go against Luka Doncic
Following the game, Irving sat down with reporters to answer their inquisitive questions. During the post-game media conference, he was asked what it was like to go head-to-head against his former teammate and “Hermano,” to which Irving laughed and gave an NSFW response.
Awkward as sh*t. You know, it was awkward but at the same time it was fun. We got the chance to feel like we were in practise all over again, going at each other… It was fun competing.

After the final whistle, both players embraced each other and shared a moment with a detailed handshake. Doncic also shared the same sentiment, saying that it was good to see his “Hermano” and former teammates—guys he went to “war” with.
Next, Kyrie Irving and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks squad will host the struggling Charlotte Hornets at the American Airlines Center. With a 31-28 record, the Mavs are desperately looking for a win on Thursday to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, with Anthony Davis sidelined due to a strained abductor, it will be a tough road ahead for Dallas.
